Groups visitor visa is for groups travelling to New Zealand for some specific purpose and with the same travel itinerary. The group must have someone who must act as the group leader and take care of the visa and arrival procedures. Normally, this visa allows the group to stay up to 1 month.

With this visa you can just travel to New Zealand as a group.

Who is it for

This visa is for groups travelling to New Zealand for specific purpose and with the same travel itinerary.

How to qualify

Purpose of Visit: The group must demonstrate reasonable purpose of travel.

Funds: The group must have sufficient funds to cover all expenses for the entire trip.

Proper Visa Application: The group leader must complete a Group Visa Application, which must include:

  • the names of each group member;
  • identifying details for the group/members, like dates of birth and passport details; and
  • a signed declaration approving that the members of the group intend to travel to New Zealand for the same purpose, on the same day, and for the same length of time.

The process

Before you apply, check if you are from a Visa Waiver country.

As group leader you must complete the ‘Group Visa Application’ form and send this to Immigration New Zealand with an appropriate ‘visitor visa application’ for each group member.

If you are willing to work as a tour guide, you will be required to apply for a work visa for yourself.

The document needed

All applicants must provide:

  • Completed and signed Group Visa Application Form (INZ 1021)
  • Appropriate fee and levies
  • Two passport-sized colour photographs for all members included in the application.
  • Passport or travel document for each group member included in the application.
  • Medical or chest X-ray certificates if essential

Evidence of financial support consisting of:

  • a completed Sponsorship Form For Temporary Entry (INZ 1025), or
  • evidence showing you have enough funds in your name to support yourself.

Evidence that you have the support to leave New Zealand consisting of:

  • a completed Sponsorship Form for Temporary Entry (INZ 1025), or
  • pre-purchased travel out of New Zealand, or
  • evidence showing you have enough funds in your name to purchase travel out of New Zealand.

If your partner and/or dependent children are included in this application:

  • evidence of your relationship with your partner and/or
  • evidence that you are the parent or legal guardian of the children included in this application

Government Fees

Application fee is $ 100 for each applicant. This is the fee for Immigration New Zealand to process the group visa application. This fee is charged per person included in your  visa application. A non-refundable immigration levy is charged and is included in the cost.

An International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL) of NZD $35 is charged and is included in the cost.

Additional information

Things to note

  • Your group must arrive and depart New Zealand together.
  • The group leader must complete a ‘Group Visa Application’ and each individual group member will need to complete a ‘Visitor Visa Application’.
  • You may be able to remain longer than 1 month if your trip is longer, for example if you are here on a study tour.
  • When the group arrives in New Zealand, the group leader will need to:
  • show the group visa and each group member’s passport or certificates of identity
  • confirm that the group stays together to complete all the required arrival formalities
  • confirm that the group departs together at the end of their stay.
  • Each group member must complete an appropriate Visitor Visa Application and show they meet the visa criteria.
  • The group leader must submit the individual Visitor Visa Application (INZ 1017) with the Group Visa Application.
