Overview

This visa supports young people from United Kingdom come to New Zealand. There are some visa requirements, if you can fulfill, you can apply for this visa. if you are a citizen of the United Kingdom, and you have at least NZ $350 to live on for each month of your stay. While you’re here, you can study and work while you enjoy your holiday.

With this visa you can

  • Choose to apply for a 12 or 23 month visa.
  • Work in New Zealand for up to 12 months.
  • Study or train for up to 6 months in total.

How to qualify

Genuine intentions: You must genuinely intend to meet the conditions of your visa

Age: You must be 18 – 30

Citizenship: You must be a citizen of the country this visa is for

Onward travel: You must have a ticket to leave New Zealand or enough money to buy one

Funds: You must have enough money to live on while you’re in New Zealand

Previous approvals: You must not have had approval for a New Zealand Working Holiday Visa before

Ordinarily resident: Your permanent place of residence must be the country named in this Working Holiday visa

The process

Step 1 – You apply online

You must apply for this visa online and in English. You can apply for either a 12 month or 23 month working holiday visa.

Step 2 – Submit your evidence to support your application

If you apply for a 23-month visa, you must upload a medical test result unless you have provided them with a previous application and they were issued in the last 36 months.

If you plan to stay longer than 24 months in New Zealand, you must provide a police clearance, unless you have provided one with a previous application, and it was issued in the last 24 months.

Your stay could exceed 24 months if you are in NZ when you apply, or if you’ve spent time here in the past.

Immigration New Zealand will send you a list of documents or queries if they have any. If you are worried about receiving emails, it is a good idea to check your spam email folder.

Step 3 – Decision about your application

If your visa application is approved, Immigration NZ will contact you by email advising that the status of your application has changed. You can then log in to Online Services to check the status of your application. If approved, you will be granted an eVisa.

  2. Proof of available funds to cover your expenses while you are in New Zealand
  3. Documents to prove your social tie in the UK
  4. Documents to prove that you will return back to the UK

Government Fees

Application fee NZD$ 280. This is the charge for Immigration New Zealand to process your application. Immigration New Zealand do not refund application costs if your UK Working Holiday Visa is rejected.

A non-refundable immigration levy is charged and is included in the cost. An International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL) of NZD $35 is charged and is included in the cost.
