Canada has a highly dense well paying job market. Henceforth, many immigrants are flooding into Canada to get their hands on these well-paying jobs.
If you are also planning to enter Canada, you will need either a temporary or a permanent residence visa. Getting a permanent residence visa will be quite a challenging job than getting a temporary residence visa.
Getting a Temporary Residence Visa to Canada
For getting a temporary residence visa to Canada, you can apply through various categories. Some of these categories and their details are listed below:
Apply as an Immigrant
You can apply for immigration to Canada. If the Canadian government finds it suitable, they will allow you to live as a temporary resident in their country. However, you can apply on several basis, such as,
- As a caregiver
Caregivers help people in need or lighten the burden of any citizen. If you fulfill the requirements for becoming a caregiver or a caretaker, you can apply for immigration to Canada. However, you might need a job offer as a caregiver to apply for immigration.
- For a refugee status
Canada has been providing refugee sponsorship to a number of people. You can either apply for government sponsorship or private sponsorship. In both cases, you will get some initial help, such as clothing, residence, furniture, on a monthly basis. But the residence period will be very short, about a year or two.
Apply for a Work Permit
Another option to live in Canada as a temporary resident is by applying for work. You can apply under various categories to qualify yourself for a work permit in Canada, e.g.,
- Through IEC
The Canadian government allows tourists to work in Canada at the same time as they explore the beautiful country. They can apply as a candidate of International Experience Canada (IEC). Although the process is a bit complicated and lengthy, it is a great opportunity for all the tourists to avail themselves of. They will also eventually have to apply for a work permit.
- As agricultural workers
There are two ways to become an agricultural worker in Canada. The First is through the Seasonal Agricultural Work Program (SAWP). Your government will be specifically picking up workers from your country. Once recruited by your government, you can apply for a work permit. Remember that you can be asked to work for more than one SAWP employer on a single work permit. You can also deny working with someone.
The second method is to apply for a work permit as an agricultural worker based on a job offer from a private employer. The employer will need approval from LMIA (Labor Market Impact Assessment) to offer you a job. This will be an employer-specific permit, i.e., you can work only for the employer based on whose job offer you got the work permit.
- As business people
If you dream of running your own business in Canada, you can apply for a work permit as a business personnel. You will have to qualify one of the various free trade agreements, e.g., the Canada-Chile FTA, the Canada-Peru FTA, Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA), General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS), etc. The qualification criteria for each agreement differ. After qualifying for any of these trade agreements, you can work in Canada as a business visitor, a professional, or an intra-company transferee. Some agreements will also allow you to work as a trader or as an investor.
Apply to Study
The Canadian government also has various immigration programs for students. You can apply for a study permit either inside or outside Canada. First of all, your biometric verification will be required.
Only after biometric, your application will be processed. If any flaws or incomplete documentation is observed, you will be notified of that.
After that, you may have to undergo some additional processes, e.g., an interview or a medical certification. After completing all the processes, your study permit will be issued. Remember, you can only receive your permit within the boundaries of Canada. The state will send you either an eTA or a temporary resident visa to enter the premises.
