If you have had a Global Impact Work Visa (GIV) for 30 months or more, you can apply for this residence visa to live in New Zealand Indefinitely.

With this visa you can

  • Live, work, and study in New Zealand.
  • Travel to and from New Zealand any time you like.
  • Include your partner, and dependent children aged 24 and under, in your visa application.

Things to note

If you want to travel, your Global Impact Permanent Residence Visa will need to be in a valid passport. You may need to apply to transfer your visa to a new passport.

You need to show that you have the support of the Edmund Hillary Fellowship

You must be able to provide evidence that you are a current member of the Edmund Hillary Fellowship, and the Fellowship supports your application for residence.

New Zealand offices are open. Offices outside of New Zealand are open except for the UK, US and India. Processing of critical visas related to COVID-19 requests for entry to New Zealand are being prioritised based on the direction of the New Zealand Government.

Travellers coming from outside a quarantine-free travel zone will not be able to board a flight to New Zealand without a voucher confirming allocation in a managed isolation facility. COVID testing and 14-day stays in managed isolation facilities are mandatory.

 

Application Process:

Step 1 – Apply for the Global Impact Permanent Residence Visa

To apply, you must presently hold a valid Global Impact work visa and have held this visa for at least 30 months.

You will be required to fill in a Global Impact Permanent Residence Application form and send it to NZ Immigration.

Step 2 – Decision about your application

If there is anything else you need to do, you will be contacted immediately by NZ Immigration.

  • You must be able to provide evidence that you are a current member of the Edmund Hillary Fellowship
  • You must be in good health. You must have a chest x-ray and a medical examination as proof of your good health.
  • Police clarence from each country you lived long period of time in the past 10 years.
  • Evidence of marriage
  • Evidence of dependent family members
  • Evidence of your current employment and income.
