International entrepreneurs may apply for a start-up visa in Canada, which allows them to live permanently in the country.

Before starting a business in Canada, these individuals must meet the language proficiency requirements and demonstrate that they have sufficient funds to cover their settlement and living expenses.

They must also introduce new and innovative business concepts, build employment opportunities for Canadians, and operate on a large-scale, global scale.

Furthermore, applicants for this programme may be expected to show a work permit in order to qualify for permanent residence or show sponsorship from the following business groups (organizations):

  • venture capital funds
  • angel investor groups
  • Business incubators.

These organizations have different screening requirements, and you will receive a letter of encouragement if you are chosen.

However, if you want to immigrate to Quebec and start a business there, Quebec has its own business immigration policy, which can vary slightly in terms of qualifications and selection criteria.
