If you are an international graduate from any Alberta post-secondary institution with a plan to establish your business in Alberta, you are qualified for the Alberta PNP International Graduate Entrepreneur Immigration Stream (IGEIS). Qualified graduate entrepreneurs can apply for permanent residency in Canada.

Basic requirements for this program include education, work permit, language, business establishment and work experience. You might gain plus points if you have adaptability factors like business succession, investment, job creation, developed intellectual property or your age is between 21-49.

If your spouse has one-year continuous employment or has completed two years of full-time study at a post-secondary institution in Alberta, it will increase your chances.

IGEIS works by a points grid, so the more points you collect, the higher are your chances of being selected. Make sure you have all the documents ready well before the deadline.

This a 7 step process which you must follow :

  1. Read Terms and Conditions Carefully. You , the candidate must have a strong likelihood of becoming economically established in Alberta.
  2. Review the International Graduate Entrepreneur Immigration Stream (IGEIS) eligibility criteria as well as the AINP Terms and Conditions.
  3. Submit an Expression of interest. If you have read the requirments and meet IGEIS criteria, you can submit your Expression of Interest (EOI) by accessing the AINP Portal.
  4. Submit your Business Application package. Make sure you have all the required documents at hand.
  5. Business Application Assessment
  6. Establish Your business in Alberta (if your application is accepted ofcourse! )
  7. Final Report for AINP Nomination

The AINP is currently accepting Expression of Interests (EOI) under the IGEIS. The information that you provide in the EOI, including the Business Proposal Summary and Net Worth Worksheet will be assessed. Points will be awarded by the AINP based on the IGEIS Points Grid.

The AINP uses an updated online system to submit Expressions of Interest (EOI) and Business Applications. You will need to submit the following documents:

Basic documents of you and your spouse (if applicable)

  • A Valid Passport Work permit ( valid, post graduate work permit)
  • Language Assessment

(The AINP accepts only the following designated language assessments: (CELPIP) (IELTS), or Test d’évaluation de français (TEF) or Canada, or Test de connaissance du français (TCF) Canada

  • Education

Upload all your Alberta post-secondary degree and diplomas. Length of the program must be at least two years.

Upload any entrepreneurship program certificate, diploma or degree and/or transcripts listing applicable courses you have done

  • Licensing, Registration and Certification

Upload all licenses, registration and certification documents required to work in your occupation in Alberta

  • Business Plan

The first step here is to upload your complete business plan. Your business plan must be based on the business proposal summary that you uploaded with your EOI. Verify that you are submitting the same copy of your business plan to the AINP that you submitted to the QSP for evaluation.

  • Business Plan Evaluation Report

Upload your Business Plan Evaluation Report. Make sure your Business Plan Evaluation Report must be prepared by an AINP approved QSP. Refer to the AINP website for more information on QSP.

  • Work Experience

To rectify that you have work experience, upload reference letter(s) for your Business Ownership, Management, Business Incubator or Business Accelerator experience.

Reference letters, income certificates from your current employer and other supporting documents are also to be uploaded.

  • The AINP Dependent Authorization Form

Complete, signed and dated

  • AINP Use of Representative Form

Again, must be complete, signed and dated

Once you are nominated for the International Graduate Entrepreneur Immigration Stream, there are several things to consider:
