Business people come to Canada for a variety of reasons, including taking advantage of trade deals that make doing business and investing in Canada easier. The following are the details:

1. CUSMA is the first in the series.

This agreement allows citizens of Canada, the United States, and Mexico to easily travel to each other’s countries for business and investment. CUSMA applies to four different types of businesspeople:

  • Traders and investors
  • Professionals
  • Business visitors
  • Intra-company transferees

2. FTAs

This is another free trade arrangement that allows citizens of other countries to do business in Canada while also visiting another country for a limited period of time. The rules and regulations are, however, close to those of CUSMA.

3. GATS

GATS allows it easier for foreigners to do business in Canada by allowing them access to the services sector.

This is for the 140 member countries of the World Trade Organization. This category includes the following categories of businesspeople:

  • Business visitors
  • Intra-company transferees
  • Professionals

Who is it for?
